Why we are different?

We set out from day one to be the best at what we do. In order to accomplish this, we cannot cut corners or assume what everyone else offers is the proper standard or accept that “the norm” is what our clients deserve. We take the time to research and ensure that we can confidently offer the best of what is available, while communicating the facts in order to educate and our clients.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Your skin is made up of two main layers, the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is the layer closest to the outside world. It's a set of dead skin cells on top of another layer of cells that are in the process of maturing. The topmost layer is called the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum mostly acts as a barrier between the outside world and the lower skin layers. It keeps all but the smallest molecules from getting through. All of the action in microdermabrasion takes place at the level of the stratum corneum. This layer is home to many minor skin imperfections like fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, course skin textures, and blemishes.
Microdermabrasion exfoliates the superficial dead skin cell layer and may stimulate collagen repair. It improves the appearance of the skin, making it look more radiant and giving it a “healthy glow”. This is properly accomplished by the use of micro crystals made from aluminum oxide that are applied or sprayed onto the skin and are gently yet effectively suctioned back off of the skin removing the dead skin cell layer. Some microdermabrasion machines utilize what is referred to as a diamond tip. Studies and reviews have shown that this is the least effective form of microdermabrasion as the diamond tip only works on an even surface, but the face as an example has many curves and small crevices that the diamond tip skips right over. This is where micro crystals are much more effective as they will fill the small, difficult lines of the skin and then exfoliate...effectively removing the dead skin. Although you may notice a small change in the appearance of your skin after one treatment, depending on the machine being used, generally microdermabrasion is best when performed in repeated sessions. Many people will choose a series of 8-12 treatments usually 7-14 days apart for the best results, however some choose 14-30 days apart but usually more as a maintenance to a previous series.

Though Microdermabrasion when performed properly is a safe, common and non-surgical procedure, there are people who should not have it. People with active herpes lesions, active acne or rosacea, open sores or lesions, dermatitis, psoriasis, people using Accutane® within the last 6 months, eczema, and lupus should not have microdermabrasion.
