Pre and Post-Procedure Care

Microdermabrasion

For 5 days prior and 5 days post-procedure:

*Avoid Waxing, Electrolysis and Laser Treatments.
*It is advised to avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat to the treated area. Use sunscreen SPF 25 daily to protect against UVA and UVB. In order to prevent skin irritation, we recommend using sunscreens that contain zinc or titanium oxide.
*A gentle cleanser/lotion…1-2 times daily	
*Sunscreen application daily
*Hydrating serum and/or moisturizer daily as needed.

For 2 days prior and 3 days post-procedure:

*It is essential to delay usage of products containing AHA (glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, any topical acne medications like benzoyl peroxide, and retinoids ( Retin- A®, EpiDuo™, Differin®, Renova®…etc) This helps in reducing additional irritation to the skin. If any questions arise please discuss with nurse prior to treatment. 
*Always consult with your physician prior to temporary delay in prescribed medications.

For day of procedure:

*After treatment it is encouraged to not apply make-up to the face, but to allow the skin to stabilize and rest overnight. Make-up maybe applied if desired 15 minutes after treatment.Care_files/Microderm%20Care%20Instructions.pdf
Facial Peels
*Women pregnant or lactating are only advised to use 
Alternative peel treatments

For 5 days prior and 5 days post-procedure:

*Avoid Waxing, Electrolysis and Laser Treatments, 
*It is advised to avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat to the treated area. Use sunscreen SPF 25 daily to protect against UVA and UVB. In order to prevent skin irritation, we recommend using sunscreens that contain zinc or titanium oxide.
*Hydration of the skin is key in the recovery process of this treatment. A gentle cleanser/lotion…1-2 times daily
*Sunscreen application daily
*Hydrating serum and/or moisturizer daily as needed.
*It is common to experience redness and flakiness of the skin for several days, post-treatment.  It is important to never pick or pull any loosening or peeling skin, for this could potentially cause harm to the skin.

For 2 days post–procedure:
 
*Stay cool! Heating internally can cause hyperpigmentation
*Do not put treated area directly into a hot shower spray.
*Do not use hot tubs, saunas, or steam rooms.
*Do not go swimming.
*Do not practice activities that cause excessive perspiration.
*Do no use filler injections (Collagen & Botox®)

Dermaplane

Contraindications for Dermaplaning (conditions excluded from treatment)

* Active acne
* Active infection of any type, such as herpes simplex or flat warts.
* Any raised lesions
* Any recent chemical peel procedure
* Chemotherapy or radiation
* Eczema or dermatitis
* Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation
* Hemophilia
* Hormonal therapy that produces thick pigmentation
* Moles
* Oral blood thinner medications
Recent use of topical agents such as glycolic acids, alpha-hydroxy acids and Retin-A 
* Rosacea
* Skin Cancer
* Sunburn
* Thick, dark facial hair
* Uncontrolled diabetes
* Use of Accutane within the last year
* Vascular lesions

For post–procedure:

* Aerobic exercise or vigorous physical activity should be avoided until all redness has subsided. 
* Direct sunlight exposure is to be completely avoided immediately following the treatment (including any strong UV light exposure or tanning beds). 
* Although SPF 30+ should already be a part of your daily skin care, after dermaplaning, SPF 30+ must be applied daily to the treated area for a minimum of two weeks. Twice daily cleanse the treated area with a cleanser by a serum and follow with SPF 30+ sunscreen. 
* Avoid prescriptive creams for 2-3 days to prevent any irritation.Relax, breathe as you normally would and let yourself drift away during your treatment.Care_files/Dermaplane%20Care%20Instructions.pdf
